’Poise’ is a reflection of my early longing to belong in a world that often felt out of reach. Growing up in a predominantly white school, I rarely saw myself reflected in the beauty standards around me. This painting is my way of reclaiming that absence,inspired by the elegance and stillness of YSL high fashion models. The elongated silhouette, refined posture and the dual figures(one in shadow and one in light) capture an internal shift from self doubt to quiet strength and self acceptance.
